Kara Duchesnay, Certified Athletic Therapist

CAT(C), BAHS Athletic Therapy, BSc. Human Kin

Hi, my name is Kara and I am a Certified Athletic Therapist. I graduated with honours from Sheridan College with a Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences degree in Athletic Therapy. I also have a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Guelph.

My treatment style combines manual treatment (massage, active release, joint mobilizations) and therapeutic exercise. My goal is to help you become pain-free and back to doing what you love, regardless of your sport, occupation or activity. The rehabilitation programs I create are 100% dependent on my client’s specific goals and needs. I have helped to rehabilitate acute injuries, chronic musculoskeletal conditions and post-surgical recoveries. I also focus on injury prevention, using strengthening, stretching and mobility exercises to ensure optimal performance.

You will usually find me on the sidelines of a football field. I have worked with the Burlington Stampeders for many seasons, with ages ranging from 8-18 years old. I was the lead Athletic Therapist for the Hamilton Hurricanes of the CJFL. I also have spent some time working with the Toronto Argonauts and the University of Guelph football team. Additionally, I have been Nelson High School’s Athletic Therapist for several seasons, working with their football, hockey and rugby teams. I have worked with lacrosse athletes (box & field lacrosse) and am currently working with the Haudenosaunee Men’s U20 team and will be going to the World Lacrosse Championship in South Korea with them in August 2025.

I grew up competitive figure skating and golfing. I fell in love with weight lifting when I was in high school which lead me to become a personal trainer after completing my degree at Guelph. This is where my love for helping people reach their goals, become more mobile and complete activities of daily living with ease came from. Shortly after, I applied to the Athletic Therapy program at Sheridan College.

My current hobbies include weight lifting, hiking and golfing. Otherwise I will be at home relaxing with my cat and a good book.

I’ll be in the clinic Mondays & Wednesdays from 4-7pm
